Shortly after leaving Quito, you arrive at Cotopaxi National Park. The outstanding sight is the imposing active volcano with its perfectly shaped cone topped by glaciers, visible from all over the region, making it one of the most iconic symbols of Ecuador. When entering the park, you’ll enjoy the hiking trail that loops around the Limpiopungo Lagoon. Your guide will explain more about the different species of birds, plants, and mammals that dwell in the area such as hummingbirds, fox, deer and the Andean condor among others. You will complete your day getting to know more about the traditional haciendas, which emerged in the 16th century thanks to Spanish traditions.
