You will discover the rich and colorful history from its diverse culture, markets, and ancient cities like Machu Picchu; learning more and more each day just how marvelous this country really is. During these four days you will explore the beautiful, lush and enchanting Sacred Valley, home to Urubamba and Ollantaytambo. These are the same places the Inca thought were so perfect that they decided to name this town and the surrounding areas their “Valle Sagrado” due to the richness of the soil, plentiful rivers, and abundant forests. Perhaps the most amazing of all, is to discover the incredible Machu Picchu citadel, just as Yale professor Hiram Bingham did for the first time in 1911. You’ll wander the many terraces, perfectly built and placed walls, temples and astronomical buildings the Inca were known for. It is an experience that will leave you wonderstruck and remain etched in your memory for a lifetime.

ITINERARY

1 day Urubamba Arrival

Upon arrival in Lima’s airport our representative will meet and assist you with your flight to Cusco. You will visit symbolic buildings like the Cathedral, the Koricancha Temple of the Sun, and the San Blas district. Afterwards, you will arrive at the Sacred Valley of the Inca in Urubamba, where you will spend the night.

2 day Sacred Valley of the Incas

After breakfast, you start your day by driving to the traditional market of Pisac. Along the way there, you’ll pass through the beautiful landscapes of the Sacred Valley and the Urubamba River that dominates through it, along with the stunning sights of vegetation, ever-changing according to the season. Once at the market, you can see the traditions come to life – many colorful clothes, interesting and intricate handicrafts and high-quality ponchos, among other goods. After the market, you have the opportunity to go to an Inca sun temple at the majestic Ollantaytambo ruins. Here is where the only successful battle for the Inca against the Spanish took place. At the end of these activities, you return to your hotel, and you’ll have free time to rest in the facilities or walk around to discover more of this wonderful city.

3 day Machu Picchu

Early in the morning, you will go to the Ollantaytambo train station to begin your amazing day in Machu Picchu. But first, the train stops in the town of Aguas Calientes and from there you get off the train to take a bus to reach the marvelous Machu Picchu.
In 2007, in a worldwide internet poll, Machu Picchu was selected as one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. It is noted that the city was built around 1440 AD as a retreat for Incan nobility, however there is evidence that the land was sacred long before. Machu Picchu is also thought to be a place for astronomical observation. You can decide for yourself as you explore the ruins of the temples, palaces, living quarters and many terraces, leaving you bewildered on how the Inca were capable of such a feat.
After your day in this stunning complex, you’ll board the train once more to arrive at the Poroy station, and then a transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco, where you will spend the night.

4 day Cusco Departure

On this day, you will begin your travels back home. Our representatives will provide you with a transfer to the airport and assist you in everything you need to board the plane to Lima. Your connection afterwards will be on your own according to your international flight.
